It’s Been A Long Time

Good Morning stamping friends,

I have so many reasons why I haven’t been able to post for almost a month.  The biggest reason was my computer.  We purchased a new PC and it has Windows 10.  My son who owns his own technology business set up the computer on Easter Sunday.  I tried to import my pictures and get to my blog but since I am not computer savvy I was out of luck.  Fortunately for my son but unfortunate for me his business is very busy.  He has access to remote into my computer and thought he had me set but I still had issues.  So finally yesterday, Mother’s day he has me squared away and I think I know what I’m doing.  While this was happening my 10 year old cat who is not getting along with our new addition, bit my hand (a deep bite).  I am getting infusions for my RA and because it messes with my immune system I went to Urgent Care immediately.  So I had to keep the hand wrapped for 7 days and take a nasty antibiotic.  All is healing well.  I have had little time to be creative so today I want to share with you some of the cards made by my downline, Dawn.  She is so talented and needs to be recognized for her creativity.  Please take a look. Let me know if you have comments.  I will be sure to pass them on to Dawn.

Oops!

Hi Stampers,

In my earlier post today I gave measurements for the base card.  Unfortunately I gave you the wrong numbers.  The base card is 4 1/4 by 11.  The score lines are at 5 1/2 and 2 3/4″ from each side.  The rest of the card is all ok.  Sorry for the mix up.

Many Changes

Hi Stamping Friends,

I spent the week end in Minneapolis for the Midwest local On-Stage event.  The new products are amazing as usual but there are many changes coming in the future.  Stampin’ Up! will no longer be carrying the current trimmer or the Big Shot.  There is a promise of a much better product to replace the trimmer that will not be affected by shipping and tariffs.  It will be awhile before it is released.  Also new dies will be coming designed by Stampin’ Up! and will have less possibility of being back ordered.  These dies will work with any die cutting machine.  You and I will have to be patient through these transitions.  In addition it seems like 90% of the current catalog is being retired.  If there is a stamp set, die or designer series paper that you are longing for now is the time to get that order placed.  I will be happy to help in any way I can.

Speaking of changes, Dave and I are doing some remodeling.  We are in the process of the kitchen right now.  That is one of the worst rooms to renovate.  I know I will love it when it’s done but right now, not so much!  That is the reason I have not been able to post this past week.  My craft studio is next on the list for renovation so everything is moved into our den where our new kitten resides for now. I hope you will be patient with me until I get my life back in order.

I do have a card to share with you today.  I made it for my last surviving aunt.  She has always been my favorite so I try to stay in touch with her especially on special occasions.  I started with Whisper White CS 5 1/2 ” by 8 1/2 ” .  Score at 4 1/4 ” and score 2 1/8 inch from each side.  I used DSP from the Sale-a-bration catalog.  Mountain fold at the 4 1/4 score. I added DSP to all four of the inside panels and the two outside panels.  A belly band holds it together when it closes.  Take a look.  Once again thank you for stopping by and for your patience through the changes.

Ducky Lucky

Hi Stampers,

Remember the childhood story of Henny Penny, Goosey Lucy and Ducky Lucky?  Maybe you’re not old enough.  The cute little mother duck from the Fable Friends stamp set reminds me of the duck in the story.  She’s all dressed up in her Cherry Cobbler hat and cloak.  I love the black and white checked paper which is on the flip side of one of the Sale-a-bration DSP.  Unfortunately the paper is no longer available but I couldn’t resist.  I started with a base card of Real Red CS followed by a layer of Pineapple Punch CS.  I added black cord as an accent.  The inside of the card has the troupe  of ducklings marching across the bottom.  Take a peek and let me know what you think.

On another note we have a new addition to our feline family today.  In February our 14 year old cat died.  Well how can I be three Cats A Stampin with only two cats.  We have been searching for awhile, even willing to drive five hours to a shelter. We found Molly at the same shelter as we got two of our dogs in the past.  She’s 6 months old and quite a combination.  She has four white socks, a very black nose and right leg, a tabby tail and mixed tortoise shell orange and black on the rest of her tiny little body.  So take a peek at her too.

Try Glycerin with Brusho

Good Morning Stampers, At my class on Saturday one of my downlines who is amazingly creative brought a bunch of cards she had created using the glycerin technique.  The smooth blend of inks for your background is awesome.  I wanted to check out how glycerin worked with Brusho.  I had a small scrap of Whisper White CS laying on my work bench.  I spread a very thin layer of glycerin on the paper and then sprinkled two colors of Brusho on it.  I took a sponge and blended the powders into a nice smooth background.  I did not add any water to the Brusho. I stamped the image from the Southern Serenade stamp set with Coastal Cabana ink on the background.  The base card is Mint Macaron CS.  I attached a piece of cardstock from the Tranquil Textures DSP series.  I used a border from the Delightfully Detailed Laser-Cut specialty paper series.  I added a few pearls to the floral image.  Super quick and super fun to try a new technique.  If your looking for glycerin it will be in the make up section of your pharmacy.  One bottle will last forever because you only use a drop or two at a time and it dries quickly so you don’t have to wait to finish your project.  Take a look and give it a try.

Fable Friends

Hi Stamping Friends. I know it has been several weeks since I posted anything.  The crud I had turned into pneumonia so I have been out of commission.  This time I am finding it harder to bounce back than two years ago when I was unlucky enough to have pneumonia then too. Today I am sharing a card from my class on Saturday.  It is very simple but oh so cute.  I started with a base card of Highland Heather followed by the matching DSP from the Gingham Gala series. I used the scalloped circles from the Layering Circle framelits in Highland Heather and Whisper White CS.  On the Whisper White circle I stamped the squirrel image from the Fable Friends stamp set with Memento Black ink.  I used Stampin’Blends to color the image. A simple ribbon with a wooden flower (from Sale-a-bration) topped with a Gingham Gala flower sequin finished the card.   I once again thank you for taking time to stop by.  I will try my best to post more frequently.  I appreciate your patience.
