Climbing Roses

Hi Stamping Friends,

I am really trying to focus on different looks and techniques.  I CASE’d today’s card from Kelly Acheson.  She is a very creative, exciting fellow demonstrator.  She also has a sense of humor hard to beat.

The base card is actually Vellum.  Now let me tell you one thing about Vellum.  Stampin’ Up!’s vellum is thicker than others I have used in the past.  I’m not sure how other vellum would work as a base card.  I used Whisper White craft ink to stamp the image on the front of the card.  The image is from the Climbing Roses stamp set.  On the inside of the card is a small card of Basic Black CS.  On a smaller piece of Whisper White CS I stamped the same image from the Climbing Roses stamp set and used Calypso Coral Stampin Blends to color the image and attached it to the Basic Black CS.  The wow factor happens when the card which is muted with the vellum opens to the bright image when the card is opened.  Take a look and let me know what you think.

Thank you as always for taking time to stop by.  I truly appreciate you.

Something Other Than a Card

Hi Stamping Friends,

At the end of last week I took a class to create a mosaic bird house.  I thought I would share with you the results.  Some of the people who took the class are the same people who attend my stamping classes.  I jokingly asked them how they were made to pay attention to the instructor and quietly follow his directions.  My classes tend to be happily noisy and some times I try to whistle to get their attention.  You get the drift.  Maybe it helped with the instructor being a guy.  Stamping isn’t the only craft that interests me.  In fact I don’t think I’ve yet to find a craft I don’t want to tackle.

The shutters on our bungalow style home are bright turquoise.  I painted the roof and base of the birdhouse the same color as our shutters.  The next step was caulking.  We used silicone caulk which takes 24 hours to dry.  We spread the caulk over an entire side then worked with an assortment of stones and glass that were provided.  The lady who sat across from me said she is not crafty and “can’t do anything”.  I reminded her the Titanic was built by professionals and the Ark was built by amateurs.  Remember which one sank ?  Her bird house turned out beautiful.  Never be afraid to try something new.  So here is my end result.  My next one will be much more ornate now that I have the hang of it.

Diorama

Hi Stampers, This card I am sharing today is so easy but has it’s own bang.  It is a diorama card.   I started with Lemon-Lime Twist CS.  On an inside panel I stamped the tea cup image from the Tea Together stamp set with Memento Black ink.  I outlined the cup with Granny Apple Green Stamp n Blends and used various shades of pinks to color the flowers.  I used the Layered Leaves embossing folder to enhance the cardstock.  It needed a pop.   The fold of the card is simple but makes the card.  A few score lines and folds and there you go.  I used the framelit die from the layering circles set to cut a two and one half inch circle in the center of the front panel and the Tea Time framelits set of dies to cut out the flower.  The possibilities for this card are endless.  The really nice part is this card folds down to a regular A2 card size and fits into a regular sized envelope for standard postage. Thank you for spending a few minutes with me.  I know everyone has a busy life these days and I appreciate any time you take to check out my shares.  If you have questions or would like to place an order please feel free to contact me.

Getting Better

Hi Stamping Friends,

Ok so I’m not perfect yet but I am getting better in posting. You have to admit, right?  Over the week-end I spent some time with ideas that had been floating in my head.  I used the Tin Tile Dynamic embossing folder on two cards but totally different techniques.  I shared one yesterday on instagram and the second one here today.

I started with a base care of Fresh Fig CS.  I keep forgetting how pretty this color is and before you know it the color will be retired since it is one of the in-colors.  I ran a piece of Very Vanilla CS through the Big Shot with the Tin Tile Dynamic embossing  folder and sponged Crumb Cake ink over it.  Then to give it some shine I sponged Champagne Mist liquid paint over it.  I used an oval from the Stitched Shape framelits set and Very Vanilla CS to create an area to stamp the Lasting Lily image with Fresh Fig ink I also sponged the edges of the oval with Crumb Cake ink and sponged the liquid paint over it as well.  This is one of the sets available FREE with a $100 purchase during Sale-a-bration.   I used a greeting from the Painted Glass stamp set.  I have found from personal experience that a card is very important when your heart is breaking from a loss.  I love the serenity of this card.

Thank you for taking time from your busy day to stop by for a peek.  I appreciate any orders you might like to place.  Feel free to contact me with questions.  Here’s the card.

Needle and Thread Wreath

Hi Stampers,

Brrrr Midwest Winters are way too cold for me.  I have lived here my entire life but every Winter I wonder why.  So to cozy things up a bit I decided to create a soft warm card.  I started with a base card of So Saffron CS.  On Whisper White CS I placed a two inch circle in the center.  I used the smaller flowers from the Needle and Thread stamp set and the small leaf image from the same set to form a wreath.  I used So Saffron and Balmy Blue inks.  I did stamp off once for the Balmy Blue to keep the color soft.  I used a blender pen and Old Olive ink to color in the leaves.  The greeting and tiny butterflies are from the same stamp set stamped with full strength Balmy Blue ink.  The design near the bottom of the card is stamped off Balmy Blue ink and another image from the Needle and Thread stamp set.  Take a peek and let me know what you’re thinking.  I’d love to here from you.
