Someone Special is Retiring

Hi Friends,

If you have been following the blog you know my hubby and I have a little zoo going on.  We have two dogs, three cats and an African Gray parrot.  When I am away from home for a few days I don’t leave our family doctor’s phone number for my husband.  I leave our veterinary clinic phone number instead.  All of the staff at this clinic are super but the front desk receptionist is exceptional.  Well she is retiring May 1.  I created an animal themed card for her to take with her.  The base card is Berry Burst CS followed by a piece of CS from the Painted With Love DSP that resembles bricks.  I stamped images from Bella and Friends and Pretty Kitty stamp sets and that little squirrel from the We Must Celebrate stamp set on Very Vanilla CS with Memento Black ink.  I used Stampin’ Blends to color the images.  The inside of the card has two parrots holding up a Happy Retirement banner.  I tucked a gift card inside from Hobby Lobby.  I know she will love it and we sure will miss her.  Take a peek at today’s card and as always thank you for taking time to stop by.

Boston Marathon and More

Hi Stampers,

I have been MIA for a week for a good reason.  I spent four days in Boston with my daughter, Dana whose lofty goal is to run the Boston marathon.  She ran the 5K on Saturday and her time was very good.  She is hoping to qualify for the marathon itself next year.  Here are a few pictures from the run.

It was a great experience and time spent with a VIP in my life.  She truly is wonderful, caring person.  I am so proud to be her mom.

This is a card I started before we left for Boston.  I finally had a chance to finish it after unpacking and resurrecting some strength. I used the image from the Falling Flowers stamp set to stamp six flowers.  I used my blender pen and Calypso Coral, Melon Mambo and Crushed Curry inks to color two of each color.  I cut the center piece from one of each of the flowers and adhered it to the full flower with a dimensional.  I used the May Flowers framelit to cut out the full blossom.  I used the Layering Circle framelits to cut out the Basic Black backgrounds for the flowers.  I attached these pieces to a base card of Very Vanilla CS after stamping the leaves with Wild Wasabi ink from the same Falling Flowers stamp set.  I used an acrylic block with Old Olive ink to stamp a background for the greeting.  Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you enjoy the card.

Petal Palette

Hi Stampers,

I had an awesome time with my downline, Dawn at On-Stage in Milwaukee, WI this past Saturday.  We had an early peek at the new catalog that will be available June 1.  Yesterday those attending the event were able to pre-order some of the new products.  I can’t wait until my order gets here.  As usual Stampin’ Up! did not disappoint us with the new catalog.  This would be a great time to join my group.  Just drop me an email and I will be happy to get you started.  Remember there is a 20% discount for demonstrators and you choose your starter kit a $125 value for $99.  We are not allowed to post pictures of the new products just yet but I can’t wait to give you a peek as soon as we can.

I have been neglecting the Petal Palette stamp set so today I had time to play with it.  I used Tangerine Tango (a retiring color) CS as my base card.  I used the leaf image from the Petal Palette stamp set and Versamark ink to stamp a background on the Crushed Curry CS.  A while ago I was demonstrating a technique with the Stamparatus.  I created a mask and stamped with Garden Green and Tangerine Tango inks . I used the negative part of the mask today as a frame for the flower image in the Petal Palette set.  I used Stampin’ Blends to color the image.  I also used the coordinating thinlits to cut out a smaller blossom image that is attached to the frame.  The frame itself is added to the card with dimensionals.  I like the brightness and cheerfulness of this card.  Who can’t use a little of that with snow outside in April?

We Must Celebrate

Hi Stampers,

This is an exciting week. I’m getting ready for Stampin’ Up!’s local on-stage event.  Hundreds of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators will be meeting in Milwaukee Wi for the Midwest local event.  There is a portion of the day spent discussing the business end of our fun jobs but what is really a blast is getting together with other demonstrators.  There are a few roosters in our hen house but for the most part we are chatty women all going a mile a minute.  We have lots of laughs and we spend time creating projects from the new catalog. That’s right . We get the new catalog ahead of anyone else.  We also get a period to preorder products from the new catalog. I can’t wait.  Another part of the on-stage event is swaps.  We make samples of cards and swap them with other demonstrators.  It’s a great way to get new ideas.  I was going to do today’s card as my swap but my hubby, who’s opinion I totally trust, thought it wasn’t enough pizzazz so I did a different card for the swap,  I still love this card.

I started with a piece of retiring CS, Dapper Denim as the base card.  I used the Simple Stripes Textured Impressions Embossing Folder with another piece of retiring CS, Flirty Flamingo. Adhered to the embossed piece of Flirty Flamingo CS is another strip of Dapper Denim CS.  I used Very Vanilla CS and the Layering Circles framelits to cut out the bases for the images from the We Must Celebrate stamp set.  I did cut these cute little creatures apart from the row they were originally in so that I could put them in different positions.  I stamped them in Memento Black ink and colored them with Stampin’ Blends.  Take a peek and let me know what you think.  I appreciate you taking time to stop by.  I am a people person and I love what I do so your interest is very important to me.
