Wiper Card

Happy Monday Stampers,

I am so enjoying this warm Summer weather we are having.  Even with the humidity I’ll take this over Winter any time.  I was sad to hear something singing outside our window last night.  It was a cricket, and you know what that means.  Pretty soon those pretty yellow finches will be turning dark and leaves will be falling.  I have said it before I love Fall.  It really is my favorite season but I hate what follows.  If only I could hibernate.

Splitcoast Stampers had a tutorial on a wiper card that I had to try.  If you follow the directions step by step it is easy peasy.  I used So Saffron CS as the base card.  The DSP is from the Delightful Daisy series.  I used the Lots of Labels framelit to cut out the Whisper White CS with the greeting from the Birthday Blossoms stamp set.  The scalloped border in Flirty Flamingo CS was cut with the thinlit from the Seasonal Layers set. I stamped one flower from the Flower Shop stamp set with Crushed Curry ink on So Saffron CS and another with Flirty Flamingo ink on Flirty Flamingo CS.  I used the Panst Punch to punch both of them out.  Here’s what I came up with.

This is the closed version.  The little Bee from the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set goes up and down as the card is oopened and closed. I know the picture doesn’t give you the full effect.  That’s why you have to give it a try.  Visit Splitcoast Stampers site for the full tutorial.

Thanks for stopping by.

Whole Lot of Lovely Flirty Flowers

Hi Stampers,

I wanted to play around with the shaving cream a little more.  I wondered what would happen if I added reinkers to the shaving cream and used that with a paint brush to “paint” the image.  I used Peek-a-Boo Peach and Calypso Coral to paint in the image from the Flirty Flower stamp set.  The stems are Old Olive.  It looked too blah to me so I used my Basic Black Stampin Write marker to highlight the image.  The base for the image is a water color tag with a Pool Party shaving crean background.  I used the Scalloped Tag Topper on the tag.  Beneath the tag is a Delicate White Doily.  The DSP beneath the doily is from the Whole Lot of Lovely series.  The base card is Pool Party CS.  Not my favorite card but I thought I would share it any way.  At least I gave it a try which is where all creativity begins. My point is don’t be afraid to try and fail.  You never know what you might come up with.  Take a look.  See what you think.

Daisies All Around

Hi Stampers,

While browsing my fellow demonstrators’ blogs I happened across a bridge fold card from the Song of My Heart Stampers site.  I was inspired by this card to try one of my own.  I used different  Designer Series Paper and images.  I hope you give this a try after you see mine.  I started with a base card of Marina Mist CS measuring 4.25 x 8 inches.  Score on the long side at 1.25, 2.5, 5.5 and 6.75 inches. Next cut 4 1 x 4 inch strips of DSP plus one strip 1 x 5.25 inches.  For the center of the card you will need a mat cut at 2.75 x 4 inches and a white center piece cut at 2.5 x 3.75 inches.  Cut another strip of CS 1.25 x 5.5 inches.  Attach the DSP to the scored panels. Now fold the left side panel up toward the center.  Attach the strip to the front of this panel only. Do not fold up the right hand side of the card. Attach the strip to the last panel on the right side of the card.  You can now fold up the right sided panel but do not crease the attached strip.  This card will stand up as you will see in the picture but will also fold down to fit in a regular size envelope.  I used the back ordered Daisy punch and Dapper Denim ink with the image from the Daisy Delight stamp set for embellishment. The punch should be back in stock soon. I encourage you to order it as soon as possible when it does come back in stock.  I used the Delightful Daisy DSP and the Birthday Memories DSP as well.  So here’s the card.

Ghostly Paisleys and Posies

Hi Stampers,

I had a fun time playing with new glossy paper, a brayer and Versamark ink.  I started with a base card of Lemon-Lime Twist CS.  On the glossy paper panel I used Versamark ink and the images from the Paisleys and Posies stamp set.  This poor set has been neglected for a bit and I think it is perfect for this technique.  After stamping randomly on the glossy paper I used Bermuda Bay ink on a brayer for the top third of the panel.  The middle portion of the panel is Lemon-Lime Twist ink.  The final third is Melon Mambo ink.  After the area is covered with ink the Versamark resists the color and the “ghostly” images appear.  A simple Melon Mambo ribbon and a greeting from the Birthday Blooms stamp set finish the card.  So simple but so cheery and fun.  Take a look and don’t be afraid to tell me what you think.   As always thanks for stopping by.

Birds and Blooms

Hi Stampers,

Today’s card is a total CASE’d job from Patchouli Meadows blog.  I did use different Designer Series Paper.  The card begins with a base card of Whisper White CS.  You could use a colored CS but the image pops more on the Whisper White.  I used the Best Birds stamp set to stamp the birds and branch with Archival Black ink.  I used Crumb Cake, Chocolate Chip, Old Olive and Tangerine Tango with a blender pen to color the images.  The greeting and little flower on the inside of the card were stamped with Archival Black ink.  The flower was colored with Blushing Bride ink.  I used the Layered Oval Thinlits to cut out the center ovals which become the inside of the card.  I used the Birds and Blooms thinlits to cut out the birds and branch.   I used Tombow Mono liquid glue to adhere the pieces to the base card.    Thanks to Patchouli Meadows for the great idea.  I hope you enjoy.
