Swirly Scribbles

Hi Stampers,

I have a very special aunt.  She is the last of my mother’s siblings.  She has always been my favorite aunt, mainly because she was most like me, a little rebellious and not afraid to be a little different.  Today’s card will be my aunt’s Easter card.

I started with a base card of Elegant Eggplant followed by a layer of Perfect Plum.  I sponged a background with Crumb Cake, Bermuda Bay, Perfect Plum and Daffodil Delight inks.  I used Crumb Cake CS and the Swirly Scribbles thinlits to create the cross.  The crown of thorns is cut from Elegant Eggplant with the same set of thinlits.  I know my aunt will love this card and I hope you like it too.  It was very simple to create but yet the thought is enlightening.  So often we forget the real meaning behind the holiday.  Thanks for stopping.  I’ll be back tomorrow.

A Version of an Easter Egg

Hi Stampers,

Today was a bright, sunny day but still cool. Perfect for the first day of Spring.  Just a few more weeks of cold weather I hope.  The evening news meteorologist listed the first day of a 70 degree temperature and for the most part it is recorded in the second week of April in Green Bay Wi.

I thought I would share a card I CASE’d from Billie Moan a fellow demonstrator from Tennesee.  I changed the colors and background but the idea is Billie’s.  I started with a base card of Bermuda Bay.  I ran the card through the Big Shot with the Gently Falling Textured Expressions Folder.  I used the largest oval from the Stitched Layering Framelits to create the “egg”.  I used the swish image from the Work of Art to create the color on the egg.  The inks I used are Daffodil Delight, Tempting Turquoise, Rich Razzleberry and Melon Mambo.  I used the flower image from the Birthday Blooms stamp set, colored it with a Stampin’ Write marker and fussy cut it.  I added a gold metallic thread bow.  The little Happy Easter greeting is part of the stamp set from this month’s Paper Pumpkin kit. Exactly what I needed to finish this card. I hope you enjoy.  Thank you for taking the time to take a peek.

Tasty Treats

Hi Stampers,

One of the most popular stamp sets in the current Stampin’Up! Occasions catalog is the Cool Treats set and the bundle which includes the Frozen Treats Framelits Dies.  It seems everyone has their own version of a Tasty Treat.  I used Cucumber Crush CS as a base card.  I folded two inches of the card over then ran it through the Big Shot with the Large Polka Dot Textured Expressions Embossing Folder.  Inside the card is a lining of Peek-a-Boo Peach and a strip of DSP from the Tasty Treats series.  I used the framelit dies to cut out the dish, three “scoops” of ice cream, the chocolate topping and the cherry on top.  I ran the dish through the Big Shot with the Confetti Textured Embossing folder.  The dish fits right in the corner of the folder.  I sponged Peek-a-Boo Peach ink around the edges and over the embossed images on the dish.  I might add a banner with the greeting on the front of the card.  I haven’t decided yet.  Take a look and let me know what you think.

Sale-a-Bration Celebration

Hi Stampers,

As you may know Sale-a-Bration is soon ending.  In fact the last day to scoop a FREE product from the Sale-a-Bration catalog with any $50 purchase from any of the current Stampi’Up! catalogs is March 31.  With this is mind I thought I would share a card using one of the stamp sets I received FREE.

I started with a base card of Melon Mambo.  Using Whisper White CS I embossed the word HAPPY with the Celebrations Duo Textured Impressions Embossing Folders.  I used a brayer with Melon Mambo ink to color the word and then lightly brayered above the word with Melon Mambo ink and Below the word with Bermuda Bay ink.  I used Bermuda Bay ink and the flower image from the Avant Garden FREE stamp set.  I inked only the word Birthday from the Butterfly Basics stamp set for the greeting.  My neighbor is celebrating her 50th birthday next week and I think this might be her card.  She’ll be getting plenty of black cards and sarcastic birthday greetings so I’m sure she will appreciate something a little brighter.   Take a look and thanks for stopping by.

Building Blossoms

Hi Stampers,

With St. Patrick’s day coming up on Friday I was treated to an awesome concert of Irish music last night.  My daughter and her husband have gone to this group’s performance for several years.  They perform in Green Bay twice a year.  One time is always close to St. Patrick’s Day.  The group is called the Gaelic Storm.  It was a fantastic show.

I am so trying to push Spring into existence so today I have a bright Springy card to share.  I started with a base card of Daffodil Delight followed by a piece of Whisper White CS.  I stamped three petals from the Blossom Builder stamp set and Crushed Curry and Daffodil Delight ink.  I used the three step stamping but only two colors of ink.  I always play on a scrap paper before I stamp with the multiple step stamps.  That way I get the affect I was looking for without a disappointment on the finished product. I used the Blossom Builder punch to punch out the petals.  I used Old Olive and Wild Wasabi ink to stamp the leaves and stem directly to the Whisper White CS.  The petals are added with dimensionals.  I used the layering circles to cut a scalloped circle from Daffodil Delight CS.  I threaded the gold metallic ribbon from the Sale-a-bration catalog through the circle and tied a bow at the end.  I stamped the lacy butterfly from the Butterfly Basics stamp set with Daffodil Delight ink.  I cut the butterfly out with the Butterflies thinlits and added this with dimensionals also.  The greeting is also from the Butterfly Basics stamp set with Wild Wasabi ink.  Please enjoy and thank you for stopping by.
