Bloomin’ Love

Hi Stampers,

Tomorrow is the first of February and I am wishing it was the first of May.  Not that at my age I want to speed time up but I cannot bear this Winter “stuff” anymore.  It is Wisconsin though and I have lived here all my life so I should expect this kind of weather.

Today I am sharing a card that could be used for a Valentine but I think it could serve as a wedding or sympathy card too. I guess some people could use a sympathy card on their wedding, ha!

The base card is a forgotten color,Sweet Sugarplum .It matched perfectly with the flowery paper from the Blooms and Bliss DSP series.  I used the Bloomin’ Heart thinlit die to cut out the delicate heart. The Precision Base Plate and Die Brush makes it a snap to cut out.  I adhered the heart to a piece of Falling in Love DSP that I tore the edge on and sponged with Soft Suede ink to give it a burnt look.  The ribbon is Blushing Bride. By the way using the Multipurpose Liquid Glue and a sponge that heart adheres like magic.  Take a look and please let me know what you’re thinking.  Thanks for stopping by today.

Hi Stampers,

I wanted to share one of the cards from stamp class on Saturday.  I swear these gals are the most entertaining when they get together. We had a great time.  This card starts with a base card of Blushing Bride CS.  I used the Love Notes Framelits Dies to cut out the heart border and the dimensional red glitter heart and the mini envelope.  I used a small floral image from the Bloomin’ Love stamp set and Blushing Bride ink to stamp the background before adhering one of the new lace doilies.  I tucked the red glitter heart inside of the mini envelope.  I had some pink and gold baker’s twine left from one of the past Paper Pumpkin kits so I punched a small hole opposite the heart border and threaded it through twice and tied a bow.  Hope you enjoy.  As always thanks for hanging in there with me. I appreciate your time.

Hey, Chick

Hi Stampers,

You know how sometimes you have this idea and when you try to materialize it, it turns into a fiasco.  Well this card has been one of those floating around in my mind.  It ONLY took me three attempts to get it right.  It really is quite simple now that I have the bugs worked out.  I love the stamp set from the Sale-A-Bration catalog Hey, Chick.  It’s only available until March 31 and the best news is it is FREE with a $50 purchase from any of the current Stampin’Up! catalogs.  The base card is Whisper White CS. I ran a piece of Real Red CS through he Big Shot with the new Falling Petals Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  I attached a 3x3 piece of CS from the Sending Love DSP stack.  I used a die from the Layering Squares framelits to cut a hole in the middle of this piece. (cut this after attaching to the Real Red piece.) Next I attached the Real Red CS to the base card. I lined up the cut out area and cut the same square in the base card.  I traced a square onto the inside of the card lightly with pencil.  I had made a mask of the heart from the Love Sparkles stamp set at the beginning of this creation.  On the inside square using Cherry Cobbler ink and the heart image I stamped inside the square.  I placed the mask over the heart and stamped the chick from the Hey, Chick stamp set with Archival Black ink.  I used Stamp n Write markers to color in the image. I erased the pencil lines and stamped a greeting under the image.  I know it sounds complicated but it really isn’t.  Just take it step by step.

Non Traditional Valentine

Hi Stampers,

I am more than happy to say I have recovered enough to get back to stamping. Whew what a long stretch of nothingness.  I have my first stamp class since December on Saturday and we’ll be focusing on Valentines.  Not everyone likes the hearts and flowers kind of card so I decided to do this card as an alternative.  I started with a base card of So Saffron followed by a piece of Petals and Paisley DSP.  I stamped the image from the Helping Me Grow stamp set with Archival black ink then used Daffodil Delight and Mint Macaron inks to water color the image.  The bee is from the new Dragonfly Dreams stamp set and is cut out with the die from the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits set. Before I cut it out I highlighted the wings with clear Wink of Stella.  The bee is added with a dimensional as is the banner.  I kept it simple so my prep time is lessened for class.  I hope you enjoy.

I’m Still Here

Hi Everyone,

Just a short explanation of why there have been no posts.  I hate Winter and so God with His sense of humor made me warm.  I have had pneumonia since December 30 with a temperature between 101 and 103 for five days before I was correctly diagnosed and given a strong antibiotic.  After 6 doses of the antibiotic I was feeling better.  At least I could breathe again.  A week ago I had a sudden pain in my right shoulder.  I’m sure you are familiar with the pain scale. Well on a scale of 1 -10 I rated my pain as a 12!  I used ice and Tylenol until Monday.  I saw my Rheumatologist and then my primary doc to find out I had a frozen shoulder caused by the antibiotic.  So lots of exercises, ice and Tylenol.  Yesterday I woke up with excruciating pain in my right wrist and elbow and my right ankle.  I called my primary doc and they wanted me to go to Urgent Care.  Being a retired RN I know that the docs covering Urgent Care really don’t know you and doesn’t all diagnose correctly.  Urgent Care has its place but I didn’t think this was one of them. I opted to up the pain meds and ice.  Today the wrist, elbow and ankle are 90% improved.  My shoulder is always less painful during the day but by early evening quite painful.  Needless to say I haven’t been able to play in my craft room.  It is hard not to be depressed when there are new stamps staring at you but you can’t even cut a piece of cardstock.

Hopefully I will be able to get back in my favorite room and create the ideas floating in my head.

Don’t stop stamping,

Mary Beth
