Vintage Father Christmas

Hi Stampers,

I always say I should have been born in the 1800’s because I love antiques and repurpose anything old.  My neighbors all know this so I am often gifted with treasures they find at garage or estate sales.  So this super easy vintage Santa from the Father Christmas stamp set.  Very monochromatic.  The base card is of course Crumb Cake CS.  The DSP layer beneath is from the Candy Cane Lane DSP series. I distresses the edges of the Very Vanilla CS before stamping the greeting and images from the Father Christmas stamp set also Crumb Cake ink.  Finally I used the image from the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set stamped off twice and full on twice to fill in the background.  I finished the card with a piece of 5/8 inch burlap ribbon tied with a gold baker’s twine bow.  I’m hoping this guy hangs around one more Holiday Season so I can use him a lot more.  See you tomorrow, possibly with another Father Christmas addition.

Soft and Serene Star of Light

Hi Stampers,

Today’s share was one of the favorites from stamp camp last week.  Very non traditional colors and yet portrays the meaning of Peace and Serenity during this season of rushing for all the wrong reasons.

The base card is Mint Macaron followed by a layer of Pool Party CS.  I am trying to convince my group to try other methods and techniques so I have been working on masking recently.  I die cut the star from the Starlight Thinlits set as a mask.  I stamped the star from the Star of Light stamp set with Mint Macaron. I masked the star and stamped the flourish from the same set in Pool Party.  I used the little star/snowflakes to fill in the background in both Pool Party and MInt Macaron inks.  A single gemstone in the center of the star is the only embellishment.   See what you think.

And the Stockings Were Hung….

Hi Everyone,

It has been a little over a week since I last posted anything.  I rarely like to talk about personal health issues but let’s just say I was beyond fatigued and could not find the energy to pull anything together.  For that I apologize but I just don’t push myself when I am warned by my body to slow down.  Hopefully there won’t be another lapse any time soon.

This week end I had a stamp camp with my regular group.  I made simple cards that could be easily multiplied.  This was my first chance to use the Hang Your Stockings stamp set and matching Christmas Stockings Thinlits dies.  I stamped one Garden Green and one Cherry Cobbler stocking and used another die with the Candy Cane Lane DSP to cut out the patterned stocking with the cute little snowflake.  You can bet those little flakes are going to show up somewhere else.  I used the Hardwood stamp with Crumb Cake ink to form the mantle.  I stamped the holly from the Embellished Ornaments stamp set with Garden Green on the “mantle”.  The base card is Garden Green with the next layer Whisper White CS run through the Big Shot with the Brick Wall embossing folder.  I used the brayer and Crumb Cake and Smoky Slate inks to color the bricks.  The mantle was added with dimensionals.  This was the only card that took a bit to assemble but I think it is worth the effort.   Take a peek.
