No Reason

HI Stampers,

I have no excuses, no reasons for a one week absence.  I have found that I can only accomplish so much in a day and I don’t have an explanation.  I needed a last minute card today and I had been thinking of this technique when I couldn’t fall asleep at night.  Very quick and simple but I like it a lot.  I started with a base card of Soft Sky CS. I stamped the snowflake background on the Mint Macaron layer with Marina Mist ink. I also sponged the edges with the same ink.  On a ceramic tile I keep handy for water coloring I blotted Mint Macaron, Marina Mist and Tempting Turquoise inks.  I spritzed the tile a few times with water then smudged the water color paper on the tile until I achieved the results I was looking for.  I used the Evergreen tree from the Lovely as a Tree stamp set and Always Artichoke ink for the image.  A little sponging around the water color paper and that’s it.  Take a look.  Thank you for stopping by. I hope to be back soon.

Delicate Ornament

Hi Stampers,

Quite a day today.  Started at 4:00 am.  Sweet hubby, Dave had a soft tissue mass removed from his neck.  Surgery was scheduled for 7:30 am but of course it was a little behind.  We were back home by 10:45.  He has a drain in place until tomorrow.  Good thing I’m an RN.  He thinks he is going to work tomorrow ! Ha.  All is well though and that’s all that matters.

I finished the card I had started yesterday and here it is.  The base card is Real Red.  I used the Delicate Ornament thinlit and the Big Shot to create the next layer with Garden Green CS.  After cutting the image I ran the piece through the Big Shot with the Softly Falling embossing folder.  Beneath the cut out is a piece of DSP from the Candy Cane Lane series.  I used a strip of the same DSP and two pieces of washi tape to finish the front of the card.  The greeting is stamped in Garden Green Ink and is from the Christmas Magic stamp set.  I adhered the banner greeting with dimensionals.  Pretty simple but if you are still working on your Holiday Cards (who me?) you need sweet and simple.

Christmas Magic

Hi Stampers,

Yesterday was a very sad day for me.  I added a new post Monday night only to find out when I had finished it would not publish because my server was down.  I called my IT guru (my son) and he thought he could get it up and working and would publish the post as soon as the problem was fixed.  He called me yesterday to tell me the entire post except for the title was gone.  So everything is up and running now so here is the post I intended for Monday and with any luck I will get another post done later today.  The card is almost finished.

I am a very nostalgic person and the Christmas Magic stamp set brings back memories of days long ago.  I hadn’t had a chance to play with this set before.  Sometimes a card I want to do is too complicated for a class and even though I could have made a simple card with this set I had so many other ideas that I couldn’t get another card in.  So I started with a base card of Soft Suede.  On a piece of White Glitter paper I stamped the train image from the Christmas Magic set with Archival Black ink.   On a separate piece I stamped the pole and the snowman images from the same set.  I used the NEW water color pencils to color in the images.  I am a water color addict so when Stampin’Up! added them to the new product available in January, I was thrilled.  I always tell my class the secret to water coloring is water.  You can blend and shade using this technique like a professional!  I fussy cut the pole and snowman and adhered them with twice the dimensionals I normally use so that it really had a 3D effect.  The background beneath the engine is Crumb Cake smudged with Craft White ink.  The sky is Soft Sky ink and Pool Party snowflakes from the Christmas Pines stamp set.  The greeting is stamped in Soft Suede and is also from the Christmas Pines set.  I hope you enjoy today’s share.  Once again thank you for taking the time to stop by.

Merry Night of Navy Medley

Hi Stampers,

I’m sitting here waiting for my wonderful hubby to get home from a long day at work.  He is a seafood buyer for a meat company and this time of the year is exceptionally hectic for him.  There’s something about the holidays and shrimp and lobsters.  Being allergic to shellfish I wouldn’t understand the euphoria but apparently others do.  He had an all day sale out of town today.  That means we got up at 3:30 am instead of 4:00 am as usual so he could get a head start.  I ran errands, took our puppy, Penny to her first grooming appointment and scratched off a few more gifts from my Christmas list.  A little short on time so today’s share is one from last week’s stamp camp.

I started with a base card of Night of Navy CS.  I used White Craft ink and the Merry Medley stamp to create the background.  I have seen this card done several ways but mostly with a wreath in the center. I didn’t want to have the same look so I stamped the Candy Cane from the Banners for Christmas stamp set with Cherry Cobbler ink on Whisper White CS.  I fussy cut it and added to the card with dimensionals.  The bow is Real Red stitched edge ribbon attached with a glue dot.  Hope you like it.

Father Christmas Once Again

Hi Stampers,

I did have a chance to complete another share with the Father Christmas stamp set.  For this card I used a Real Red CS base.  On the Very Vanilla layer I used the holly image from the stamp set  and Cherry Cobbler and Always Artichoke inks to create a background..  I stamped the Santa image in Black Archival ink on Whisper White CS and colored the image with Stamp n’ Write markers. I used the Stitched Shapes Framelits to cut out the oval with the image. I adhered it to Real red CS and then to the Very Vanilla layer.  I stamped a greeting in Cherry Cobbler and used a smaller oval framelit and the Big Shot to create this piece.  I hope you enjoy the brighter version of Father Christmas.
