Fresh Fruit

Hi Stampers,

I know it’s not fair to tease people with things to come but for the last two days Stampin’ Up! demonstrators have had sneak peeks at the upcoming Holiday Catalog.  Let me just say this year is better than last.  You will love it.  The stamps sets and accessories are super versatile.  That’s all I can say for now, but let me tell you it is going to be very hard to keep a secret.

Today’s card combines Fruit Stand DSP and the Fresh Fruit stamp set.  The base card is Pear Pizzazz CS.  A portion of the front of the card is covered with the pear print designer paper.  I threaded Wild Wasabi seam binding ribbon through the inside of the card.  I used the Swirly Scribbles thinlits and Pear Pizzazz CS to cut out the shape beneath the pear image I stamped with Wild Wasabi and Pear Pizzazz ink.  The flower is from the same set and is stamped with Delightful Dijon and So Saffron inks.  This is a two step set which allows for the shading without a lot of extra effort.   Take a look and please let me know if you have questions or comments.  Once again, thanks for taking the time to stop by.

The Wilderness Awaits a Masculine Side

Hi Stampers,

We had a great time at stamp camp today.  Lots of laughs as usual. One of the four cards we made today has a masculine flair.  The base card is Chocolate Chip CS followed by a layer of Crushed Curry CS.  We turned a piece of Whisper White CS into little works of art by adding four inks.  We started at the top with Marina Mist shaded in Pool Party then Old Olive and lastly Garden Green.  The trees from the stamp set Lovely As A Tree, which has been around since time began, were stamped with Chocolate Chip ink.  The greeting is also Chocolate Chip ink.  The dog from the Wilderness Awaits stamp set is stamped and water colored with Soft Suede ink.   Everyone’s turned out just a bit different but all were little masterpieces. Here’s my version.

Bella and Friends

Hi Stampers,

Being an animal lover having grown up on a farm the Pretty Kitty and Bella and Friends stamp sets were among my favorites in the new annual catalog.  I am in the process of preparing for a stamp camp this week.  This is one of the cards we will be working on but I have made some changes for the class.  This card is very simple but still has a lot of dimension.  Take a look and I’ll explain how I got here.

I start with a base card of Rose Red.  I used the Softly Falling embossing folder to add dimension to the background.  This is changed to a base card of Cherry Cobbler with a second layer of Melon Mambo with the same embossing folder for the class this week end.  It just gives it have more pizzazz.  The Layering Squares Framelits were used with Cherry Cobbler and Crumb Cake CS for the Bella image which was stamped with Soft Suede ink.  I used the dots image from the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set with the Bella stamp for a little more background The heart  and Bella’s collar were colored with Real Red Stamp n Write markers and a gemstone was added to the collar.  The greeting is from the same stamp set, Bella and Friends.  The die cut is from the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits.  Very simple but I think very nice for anyone, especially animal lovers.  What do you think?

Count ‘Em Eleven Stamps….

Hi Stampers,

They say Tuesday is just Monday’s ugly sister.  I say Tuesday is one day closer to Wednesday, my day off.  After I retired I decided I still wanted to do something useful so I work very part time for a Senior Care home care provider.  Wednesday is the only day set aside for me time.

Last night while my sweet hubby was outside with his “girlfriend” Wanda, (that’s what we’ve dubbed the wand he waters our flowers with).  I dislike using it but there was a lot that needed watering last night. Anyway, while he did the flowers I worked on this shabby chic card.  Shabby chic is truly my style.  I love antiques and anything vintage.  It took only a half hour to complete this card but it took eleven stamps.

The base card is Soft Suede CS followed by a distressed piece of Always Artichoke and the image piece is distressed Very Vanilla CS.  I used stamps from the Timeless Textures, Gorgeous Grunge and both sets of the Touches of Textures stamp sets.  I used Soft Suede, Crumb Cake, Always Artichoke and Watermelon Wonder inks.  I did a lot of stamping off and spritzing to get the effect I was going for.  I love how it turned out.   Take a look and let me know what your thoughts are.  I would love to hear your comments and suggestions.  As always thanks for stopping by.

Black Embossing Powder does the trick

Hi Stampers,

First and foremost prayers for all those who are suffering in any way, emotionally or physically.  For those mourning the death of their loved ones as the result of the latest attack in France.  One can only ask “Where next?”  That is a pretty sad way to use the life God has given us.  When will everyone realize we all bleed red and love is easier in conquering difference then hatred.

I love the new 2016-2018 in-colors and especially Flirty Flamingo and Dapper Denim.  I also like the blossoms in the two set Remarkable You stamp set but the cards I have made with them before fell flat in my opinion.  I wanted this card to really pop.  I used Very Vanilla CS as the background for Touches of Texture and Remarkable You images.  I embossed the splattered image from the Touches of Textures with black embossing powder.  Next I embossed the leaves from the Crazy About You stamp set. In order to have the leaves coming in from both directions I had to “kiss” the leaf on the left.  E-mail me if you want more specifics on how I did this.  The blooms from the Remarkable You stamp set are not photopolymer so I stamped the image on a scrap paper, fussy cut them and determined the positioning on the card.  I made faint pencil marks so I could line up the stamp.  The image was stamped with Memento black ink.  I erased the pencil marks and then water colored the blossoms with Flirty Flamingo ink and highlighted with Peek a Boo Peach ink.  I adhered the Very Vanilla piece to Basic Black CS and then to a base card of Flirty Flamingo CS.  I strip of Flirty Flamingo Ruched ribbon is the only accent.  I really am happy with how this turned out.   See what you think….
