Paper Pumpkin Alternative

Hi Everyone,

June has flown by and soon it will be the fourth of July then Labor Day and then summer will be over.  It seems like such a short time and such a long wait but maybe that’s what makes it special.  I hope you are enjoying your summer.  No colors can compare with the green leaves and the blue sky oh yeah can’t forget the red in the strawberries.  I went berry picking yesterday.  I had fun chatting with the people in the next row.  I swear the lady has never been picking before.  She was a hoot.

So my Paper Pumpkin came in the mail the end of last week.  I’m not much into banners but I came up with an alternative just in time for our neighbor’s birthday.  The base card is from the Paper Pumpkin kit as is the triangular pouch, sequins and washi tape.  I added Flirty Flamingo CS to the inside and beneath the shaker pack on the front of the card.  The birthday greeting is from the new Thoughtful Banners stamp set punched with the Duet Banner punch.  I used Flirty Flamingo ink on Flirty Flamingo CS for the greeting.  It is adhered with dimensionals.  This is just one of the ways to use this month’s Paper Pumpkin.  I’ll have to get my creative juices cranking and see what else I can whip up.

As always thanks for stopping.  I appreciate your time.

I can only wish!  Hugs and happy stamping,  MB

Lots of Love

Hi Everyone,

I used another Host/Hostess stamp set, Lots of Love for today’s card.    The base card is So Saffron CS embossed on one edge with the Large Polka Dot embossing folder.  I stamped the lady bugs from the Lots of Love stamp set with Memento Black ink then colored them with a Real Red Stamp n Write marker.  Next I adhered a strip of DSP from the Affectionately Yours series.  I stamped the greeting from the Build a Birthday stamp set first in So Saffron ink then over stamped with Dapper Denim ink.  I sponged the oval with Dapper Denim ink and adhered it to the card with dimensionals.   Now remember just because I made these lady bugs doesn’t mean you can’t make them your favorite beetle. Not so much the ones that eat your veggies and flowers. Just sayin’ use your imagination!   Take a peek and let me know your thoughts.

Hugs and happy stamping.  MB

Fabulous Flora

Hi Stampers,

Today I am sharing a card created with a Hostess only stamp set, Fabulous Flora.  I used the new color Dapper Denim CS as the base for the card.  I used an image from the Timeless Textures stamp set and Crumb Cake ink to create a grid of sorts on the left side of the Whisper White CS.  Next using Memento Black ink I stamped the image from the Fabulous Flora set in the upper right hand corner over the grid,  I used alcohol (rubbing) with Old Olive and Crumb Cake ink to color in the leaves.  Dapper Denim and alcohol were used for the flowers.  I have a few extra butterflies die cut with the Butterflies Thinlits so I used a dauber to ink a white butterfly with Dapper Denim ink.  Before adhering the butterfly with the Fine Tip Glue Pen I stamped a dot image from the Timeless Textures stamp set in Dapper Denim.  I stamped off a few of the images to change the intensity.  The greeting is stamped with Early Espresso ink on part of the Bow Builder punch.  The greeting is from the Thoughtful Banners stamp set.  There are endless combinations of words and phrases in this set.  I also tore the edge of the Whisper White layer and sponged the edges with Early Espresso ink.  I had fun creating this card.  I hope you enjoy it and it inspires you to create one of your own.

Thanks for stopping.  I appreciate you taking time out of your day to visit.

Monday, Monday…..

Hi Stampers,

I had a nice week end.  I went back to my home town for the local garden show.  Dave and I were able to spend some time with my sister and her husband.  When we got back home it was 90 degrees and HUMID.  I love the heat and I don’t even mind the muggys but health wise I didn’t want to push it.  So we relaxed for the rest of the day.  Sunday after mass I changed into my gardening clothes and didn’t stop until I ran out of potting soil.  Darn those little chipmunks.  They have dug up some of my potted plants.  Someone recommended Fox urine crystals so Dave went out and got some and I sprinkled away.  As of today no digging.  Still not convinced they will stay out of the pots but I’ll keep watching and sprinkling.  So the card I am sharing today is not the one I wanted to share but I promised I’d be posting today and I don’t break promises.  Here you are…..

I started with Basic Gray CS added Perfect Plum as the next layer.  Next onto the Sweet Sugarplum CS I used a technique I found on Pootles blog, a fellow demonstrator from the UK.  Stampin’ Up has discontinued many of the colored embossing powders so how do you emboss with different colors.  This technique uses Versamark ink to ink up your stamp and then re-ink with the regular dye based ink.  Stamp your image and then cover with clear embossing powder and heat emboss.  I know you can’t really see the effect but give it a try it’s amazing.  I had die cut from a piece of  Whisper White CS I placed this over the Sweet Sugarplum layer.  Take care until next time….

Affectionately Yours

Hi Stampers,

First of all thanks for hanging in there with me.  I know my posts have been too few lately but there are only so many hours in a day and so many days in a week.  I am almost finished planting our flower gardens.  The initial weeding is like a demo n a renovation project.  That was completed last Saturday.  This week it seems every time I had off from work it rained.  But I will get it done.  By this time next week I will be done planting and all our yard art will be out of hiding.  I’ll post some pics so you can see what I have been up to.

I used a lot of new product with a little from the products that carried over from the last catalog to create this card.  The base card is Soft Suede CS.  Affectionately Yours DSP is the next layer.  I used the new layering squares framelits dies to cut out the Cucumber Crush and Daffodil Delight squares.  I used the scalloped squares from the set.  This is an awesome set of framelits.  There are FIFTEEN dies in this set.  I didn’t like the squares by themselves so I used an image from the Timeless Textures stamp set to create a background on each square.  I sponged the edges with the same ink.  Next I used the butterfly from the Watercolor Wings stamp set.  I stamped Blushing Bride and then Melon Mambo on the two step stamp.  The body of the butterfly is Crumb Cake ink.   This is really a little outside my comfort zone but I think it turned out pretty well. What do you think?

Have a wonderful week end.  I’ll be back on Monday.
