Just For You

Hi Everyone,

Last week was a whirlwind of stress but I am happy to say that our Pugle, Mookie has made a full recovery.  He needed extra TLC and that's what we gave him.  So I took a break from blogging and am finally caught up and can finally have time to play again.

Today's card is full of NEW products which will be available January 5th.  Melon Mambo has always been one of my favorite colors.  The base card is Melon Mambo.  I used the same color ink to stamp the greeting "Just For You".  It is a new image from the Botanicals for You stamp set.  I used the Lots of Labels framelits sponged with Melon Mambo for the background of the greeting.  The designer paper is from the It's My Party DSP pack.  I used paper from the NEW Love Blossoms Paper stack to create the flower,  One of the NEW bundles is Botanical Blooms stamp set and the Botanical Builder Framelits Dies.  I used the die that allows the flower to be a little more dimensional.  The accent in the center is a Metal Rimmed Pearl.  I wanted just a little more on the greeting piece of the card so I used the splatter stamp from the Awesomely Artistic stamp set and Mint Macaron ink to the background.   I hope you enjoy.  Take a peek…

Difficult, Sad Time

Hi Everyone,

I haven't posted since Friday.  Normally I take the week end off the computer and I'm back at it on Monday.  Yesterday was no ordinary Monday.  My husband, Dave and I always get up early (4 am early).  I start the coffee and bring in the paper and get Dave's muffin warmed while he takes our dogs for a morning call of duty.  Our Pugle, Mookie, is close to 14 years old but always full of pep.  Yesterday he barely made it up the steps, wouldn't eat, vomited and laid on the floor panting and tremoring.  As soon as the Vet's office opened I called explaining that I thought Mookie was in big trouble.  They had us bring him right in.  They feel he had a significant seizure.  We brought him home and he is pretty much status quo with the exception that I can coax him to eat.  He is drinking huge amounts of water and is leaving lakes for me to clean up every little while.  We know we have to make a hard decision but we want to give him a few days to see if he improves.  We feel he may have had a CVA (stroke) rather than a seizure just by his lack of improvement.  So I am asking for your patience and understanding.  As soon as I feel like being creative I will make up for my lack of posting.  Thank you and God bless you and your furry families.

Hugs and happy stamping,

Not a Card Today

Hi Stampers,

Yesterday I needed to check out the ornament frames I have seen everyone using.  I did get a box of miniature ones in the sale area but hen I spotted these wooden ornaments also in the clearance area!  Since I used to do a lot of folk art painting I decided to combine my paints with the stamping I'm so passionate about now.  I painted the center of the ornament with White Wash acrylic paint.  The border is Mendocino which is very close to Cherry Cobbler.  After the paint dried I used Crumb Cake ink to stamp the tree images from the White Christmas stamp set.  The snowman is stamped in Marina Mist.  I needed another tree in the background so I used the little evergreen from the Project Life by Stampin' Up! 2015 and Pear Pizzazz ink.  The greeting is from  the Peaceful Wreath stamp set and stamped with Marina Mist.  I used dazzling diamonds on the snow, trees and snowman.  See that little darker spot in the right hand corner?  Guess who smudged a little red paint.  It is not as dark off camera.  Just goes to prove I'm far from perfect.  I put mine on an easel but you can easily tie a ribbon or baker's twine or add a wire to make it hang.   See what you think….

A Cup of Tea Anyone

Hi Stampers,

So I promised a soothing card today.  I subscribe to ALL YOU magazine.  They have a lot of useful, common, everyday ideas. The Holiday issue is no exception.  They showed how to make a tea bag from a coffee filter.  I thought it matched perfectly with the image from the Cup Of Cheer stamp set.  I used Real Red as my base card, followed by a piece of DSP from the Merry Moments Designer Series Paper Stack.  I had a small piece of DSP left from another project from the Home for Christmas pack.  I used this to border a piece of Whisper White CS stamped with the cup image in Mossy Meadow ink from the Cup of Cheer set.  On the inside you can see the tea bag (mine is empty, recommended amount of loose tea is 2 tsp.)  I attached baker's twine and a small tag with the cup image from Project Life by Stampin' Up! Hello December 2015 stamped on it to the tea bag.  The Inside greeting is from the Oh What Fun stamp set.   I love the idea of giving just a little something with this card.  There are so many tea drinkers out there now that you shouldn't have a problem thinking of someone to gift this to.   Let me know what you think.

Holly Jolly Leaflet

Hi Stampers,

It sure is raw and nasty without the sunshine.  It's been two days since we've seen a sign of the sun.  I don't even mind the cold as much as the gray, dreary skies.  I tried to brighten things up a bit with today's card.  See if it perks you up….

20151208_130933

The base card is Real Red CS.  I have tons of bits and pieces od DSP scattered over my work bench.  I found this holly print from the Season of Cheer Designer Series Paper so I added it to the left side of the card.  Next I used the cotton paper sponged with Mossy Meadow to cut two sort of Holly leaves with the Leaflet Framelits die.  I smudged veins down the centers of the leaves.  I added three one half inch red foil berries that I punched with the one half inch punch.  The gold glitter embellishments were punched with the one inch punch.  It was fun to try something just a little different using the cotton paper.

Stay warm and I'll be back tomorrow with a little something soothing.
