Paper Pumpkin meets Birthday Blossoms

Hi Stampers,

This month's Paper Pumpkin features two different cards.  I used one of the base cards to create today's card.  The ideas given with each Paper Pumpkin with complete instructions are always fun but I bore easily so I have to find a way to change them up a bit.   This is what I came up with:

I used Bermuda Bay ink to sponge the edges of both the card and the attached banner.  The Paper Pumpkin kit had the triangle stickers included with it.  I stamped the flower image from the Birthday Blossoms stamp set with Bermuda Bay ink to create a background and a separate image in Memento Black ink and colored it with alcohol (the rubbing kind) and Bermuda Bay ink.  The greeting is also from this month's Paper Pumpkin.  The finishing touch is a Daffodil Delight bow.  I have another thought for an easy card using the same base.  Stop back tomorrow to check it out.

Birthday Blossoms Wreath

Good Monday Morning stampers,

I hope everyone had a restful week end.  Dave and I went to his class reunion on Saturday.  I won't tell you what year they were celebrating cause that gives too much away.  Let's just say it wasn't his 10th.  I hate those goofy name tags that say HELLO MY NAME IS:  I put Dave's name on his and On mine I wrote "I'm with Him".  At least I added a little humor.  His classmates are such a ho hum bunch.

Yesterday I had time to play between gardening and strawberry picking.  My son-in-law weighed a few pounds more after picking than before.  So here's the card I came up with.

The base card is Cucumber Crush with a strip of Cherry on Top DSP left over from another card.  I stamped several images of the tiny flowers from Birthday Blossoms stamp set with Memento Black ink to form a wreath.  I used Wisteria Wonder and Daffodil Delight Stamp and Write markers to color in the image.  Do you see the one flower I used Blushing Bride ink to color in?  Sometimes it's hard to stand up for what you believe in and be different from the rest.  That was the message I was trying to convey with this card thus the greeting "Just Be You."  I sponged the edges with Cucumber Crush ink to give it a little pop.  The greeting banner is from Bitty Banners framelits.  Let me know what you think.

Birthday Blossoms

Hi Everyone,

Well my grandson, Sawyer was two for three up at bat last night in his 7 year old's baseball game.  It is so much fun to watch them grow through the stages.  His dad is a die hard softball player.  He still plays in a league even though he's almost 40!  He doesn't read my blog so I'm safe saying that.  My oldest grandson is eleven and I remember when he was in the league his brother is playing in now.  We had to remind him last night that he has come a long way since then.  And then there were the two year old twins rooting Sawyer on.  They call him Coco.  No explanation for that but it sure was funny watching them.

I had a chance this morning to play with the old and the new.  I used NEW stamp sets and none of the new in-colors for cardstock.  I guess I don't want to by pass the old colors for the new.

The base card is Basic Gray CS followed by a second layer of Melon Mambo, which is still one of my favorite colors.  The third layer is Blushing Bride stamped with a leaf from the Birthday  Blossoms stamp set.  I used Blushing Bride ink to stamp the image.  The final layer is Whisper White CS stamped with the Calla Lily stamp from the Remarkable You stamp set.  I stamped with Versamark ink then white embossed the image and water colored with Melon Mambo.  The leaves are Old Olive.  The background is sponged with Blushing Bride.  I rounded the corners to finish it.  The greeting is stamped with Melon Mambo and is from the Birthday Blossoms stamp set.

I would love to hear from you if you have comments or questions. Have a blessed week end.

Best Thoughts

Hi Stampers,

I CASE'd the idea for this card from Karin Tunnell. Thanks Karin.  I changed the paper and colors.  I used the same hostess stamp set Best Thoughts.  Take a look.

The base card is Calypso Coral.  I folded the corner over and attached a 3×3 piece of Whisper White CS stamped with an Image in Memento Black ink.  Over the top I used Calypso Coral ink stamped off once and Melon Mambo ink also stamped off once with images from the Gorgeous Grunge and You've Got This stamp sets.  I mounted the Whisper White CS onto Basic Black and adhered it to the folded front of the card with Tombow Mono adhesive.  The border on the front of the card is Cucumber Crush ink and an image from Bordering Blooms stamp set.  The greeting is also stamped with Cucumber Crush ink and is from the Best Thoughts hostess set.  I adhered this with dimensionals.

I'm off to a 7 year old's baseball game so I have to run.  Till tomorrow.

Build a Birthday

Hi Stampers,

Yesterday was our neighbor's eighteenth birthday.  We have watched her grow from a three year old sweet little blonde to a beautiful young lady.  She has started classes working toward her degree in psychology. I wanted to make her a special card so I used images from the Build a Birthday NEW stamp set and some images from this month's Paper Pumpkin which came in the mail on Saturday.  I don't know why but I usually choose a shade of pink or purple for her cards.  I used Melon Mambo for the base card.  I cut a circle with the circle framelits in the center of the front.  Using Melon Mambo ink and the flower image from the Paper Pumpkin kit I stamped a background.  The three candles and flame are from the Build a Birthday stamp set.  When used horizontally they "build" a cake.  "It's your day" is a greeting from the Paper Pumpkin kit.  The inside greeting "birthday wishes" is also part of the Build a Birthday set.  I stamped the flower image from the Paper Pumpkin kit with Melon Mambo and water colored and fussy cut it.  It was adhered with a dimensional as was the button on top of the flower.  The banner is from the Cherry on Top DSP stack.

Sorry about the shadow.  I took this a little late in the day.  Thanks for looking. I hope it gives you some ideas.
